Dr. Adam Durant has been working in the aerospace startup domain since volcanic ash clouds from Eyjafjallajokull volcano grounded European aviation in 2010; his first industry engagement was helping easyJet and AIRBUS develop a system for commercial aviation to detect volcanic ash clouds. Adam’s experience also includes over 15 years working in academia and he is an expert in aviation meteorology and specialist in atmospheric particulates such as ice, dust and volcanic ash. His recent work spans Big Data and analytics, AI, Internet of Things, cloud systems engineering, and emerging sensor and telecommunications technologies, to develop innovative solutions to manage environmental threats to aviation.
